The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Response Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration. The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms. It has advised users to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction. Sizing System Changes Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10. With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Shopper Accounts A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated. Necessary Adjustments Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said. Platform Context The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK. It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
